Graham
The outside exhaust manifold on OUV is heavily pitted especially on no's 1 and 4. Whereas inside is still as smooth as the day it was cast. Can anybody tell me what process causes this, just curious, as my logic says if anything the inside should be pitted after being exposed to years of high temp gas from the exhaust ports. But clearly, not for the first or last time, my logic is flawed.

RogerH
Hi Graham, the front and oddly enough the back (airflow bouncing off the battery etc) of the manifold are exposed to high moisture levels on rainy days. Added to that it is on a constant airstream that removes the light rust particles to allow more deeper rusting to take place. It sounds as if an expert just penned that gibberish but I've just made up - but it is logical. Roger
