Varying oil pressure

Recommended Posts

Alan

I too find the oil temperature gauge (fitted by the PO where the O/D switch should be) a very reassuring instrument, as you say, in combination with oil pressure gauge and coolant temperature it really tells you what is going on. (even more reassuring if the coolant temperature gauge is u/s!)

On the rally - hill climbing - last June (mid- to high- 30's) it was really good to see the effect of switching on the electric fan and watch the oil temperature drop. In the UK it usually sits at about 80-90C but in hot conditions when pushed really hard in high ambient temperatures it rises to 100-110C.

Steve,

We can try fleshing out the difficult bits on here, to get a better grasp. There are bits I dont get either.

Just ask.....
