Tonymolloy
I've just bought my first tr6 and I've noticed that one of the rear wheels toes out ,is it much of a job to fix?
RogerH
Hi Tony, welcome to the forum. If it is Toe (In/Out) that is the problem then you can adjust it by inserting /removing shims Item #16 http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/shop-by-model/triumph/tr5-6/steering-suspension/rear-suspension/rear-suspension-739f3c.html Roger PS - you don;t have to remove the trailing arm. simply loosen the bolts and insert the shims. peejay4A
Examine the integrity of the trailing arm attachment points very closely. Either the previous owner set it up wrongly (why would they?) or there's potentially another reason.
TriumphV8
As most of the TR6s I inspected have a real problem with the rear I would recommend to make a full service. If the toe-in runs out of recommended figures the rubber bushes might be the culprit. They allow the center to move over the years. So first new bushes, than proper riding height, not too low and next step will be the camber. Do not set negative, keep at the upper figures from the handbook and do not forget to put weight on the seats when setting. After all that the toe-in is set, what in practice is the easiest job of all that steps.
DaveN
+1 I would be inclined to take it all apart to check the integrity of the TA brackets. Note they are different for early and late cars and inner and outer positions.
RogerH
Hi Tony, seeings as how the answers have blossomed from a simple question; if you decide to take the TRailing arm off and check it out/refurbish it then have a good look at the notched brackets Items 8 & ( http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/shop-by-model/triumph/tr5-6/steering-suspension/rear-suspension/rear-suspension-739f3c.html These have a habit of cracking down the centreline of the bolt holes Roger
