Lebro
Your going to have trouble getting that head back together again is it the small round hole you are talking about or the tear drop shaped one ? Bob.
Waldi
Marcus, Thanks for sharing, very interesting for me as I am currently working on my engine and found a thick scale in the cooling system. What acid and strength did you use? I did a small test on a waterpump house with acetic acid, the product used for cleaning in house, it seems to work ok-ish after leaving soaked for 2 days. I noticed on his website Ed H. used phosphoric acid with good result. Regards, Waldi
GT6M
Ha haa, its already done, Solivite an some unibond its the hole on the right, its a round hole in spots butt opens up here an there, then where the ..sort of bridge bit is, its supposed t,be round but it is caked up wid crud, casting marks meb,e this pic will show better I used Phosphoric acid, its only aboot 20-25 % butt, this stuff works alott lott better if its got heat init I ev it on me steel bench wid a heater underneath, so things can get hott, an me !! ye will need a few flushes, as over night, it goes to a thick gooey paste it took 4 flushes t,get it back t, good new looking cast iron. and fresh, ish acid coming oot. Ye,ll no it done as its clean , ne crud coming oot, the hotter the better. May need a new set of core plugs too, as most are weel an truly rusted away after 50 odd yers. and the acid will see em off. only a few squid they are. rinse, with a power line,or hose, see just hoo much crud comes oot. then re seal water pump end, and if no heater, dunk int bath for ink for 10 mins wid hot water then re fill wid acid and this the drill I used, its a 12 mm masonary drill, took doon t, 12 mm, as I ust it on me oil way chest, Sharpen the 2 end flutes, an it,ll chomp its way thru the bunged up bridge bits ok USE the drill carefully, as it snags, tek it easy, if it stiks, rev an back off, then go agen its snags are too much for clutch, even on full, so be carefull, strain yer acid that comes oot, an let it settle, it,ll be clear agen in a week, as sludge settles can get 85% strength off flea bay for about 10 for 5 litres http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5-LITRE-PHOSPHORIC-ACID-DESCALER-RUST-REMOVER-85-5000ML-5L-/201804342509?hash=item2efc79e4ed:g:sVkAAOSw9N1VsUEz Me self, I got a 5 gall drum direct frae chemical works 5 mile away for 30£ muchess cheeper, so if got a smallish chemical spot near by, go payem a visit.
