2long
My Doretti's water pump was shot, so I got an old stock replacement pump from a pal and tried to put it in yesterday. But, the pump looks like it might be the wrong one, as there is no threaded shaft for the nut at the forward most end. Instead, there is a fatter smooth shaft with a notch. My question first is what have I got (replacement pump on the right, old one on the left), and second, should I get a pulley that fits the pump or another pump with the threaded shaft so I can reuse my current pulley? Ian Vincent
Dan, My pump looked like the one on the left in your picture and following the recommendation of Don Elliott, I stripped it down and replaced the knackered shaft with a stainless one that I got a friend to turn up for me and fitted new bearings and a new seal from a Ferguson Tractor spares supplier and to date, it's working fine. mjdearing
thats same as my roadster pump the fan mounts on the shaft with a pinch bolt.
Alec Pringle
Hi Dan, that pump might be the one I sent you ? In which case my brain must have been out of gear and/or someplace else ! Either it's a Roadster / Town & Country saloon pump and the pulley mounts by a cotter, or it's for a TR fitment Unipart type pressed-on pulley with a key which enables you to press on the pulley but never get it off again . . . . Whichever, it's incorrect for the Doretti, and apologies if it was me who got it wrong ! I'll have a look asap, I should have a pukka item hidden away somewhere - but it won't be tomorrow as I'm at another hospital hoping to find some treatment for this damn cancer that's currently doing its best to render me extinct. 2long
Alec - no need to apologize - or root through your stuff! I have gotten so many wonderful correct items from you at bargain basement prices, so I am fine if this small item still needs to be sorted. Good pumps are not too hard to source. And maybe I can pay if forward if any Roadster owners need a pump! Aloha Dan Edited August 29, 2016 by 2long
