RogerH
Hi Folks, I'm attempting to upholster the TR4. I've covered the rear wheel arches and they look quite reasonable. The side panels are fitted and look good. I now want to fit the floppy bits on the side that cover the front of the roof frame. Here lies a problem!!!!! compared to the parts that I removed the new parts are a good 3/4" too long at the front end. So if they were fitted the front flappy bit would overlap into the door space - the old parts didn't Has anybody experienced this problem. I'm quite happy to take the scissors to it and sort it good and proper. Roger Edited August 23, 2016 by RogerH
RogerH
Hi Folks, another question. Where would the hood frame normally attach on a TR4 There are holes pre-cut in the backing of the side panels but these look too high compared to my p[ics taken when dismantling. Has anybody got a good photo of where the hoof frame attaches Below is a pic of where mine was !! Roger Edited August 23, 2016 by RogerH
TR 2100
Roger, I will email a couple of photos of my TR4 taken back in the 80s, long before restoration. I have no reason to doubt this is how it left the factory. AlanR Edited August 23, 2016 by TR 2100
bob-menhennett
Roger The rear of the triangular bracket should be vertical as per Alan's photo whereas yours appears to have "sat " , judging from the indentation ,at an angle. I'm happy to talk you through the floppy bits of the " seat " arrangement.I will PM you. Bob Edited August 23, 2016 by bob-menhennett
TR 2100
A few more photos of TR4 hood frame as original. Note that the lift-the-dot fastener dot points towards the outside of the car. This is how the factory did it. That way you can 'rip' the hood off its fastenings in a line rather than one by one. AlanR
TorontoTim
Roger, I have literally just fitted new ones of these to my car (ok, it was last week, not earlier today...). My set came from The Roadster Factory in the USA (becasue I could buy just the floppy bits without the rest of the trim). I'll take some photos and post. Tim
TorontoTim
Ok - here's what mine look like - let me know if another angle would be more helpful... Remember that the side pieces need to "wrap around" the hood frame when it's in place, effectively making a little box-section around it - that might take up some of the extra. you have to lie down on your left side to see the frame attachment properly. Can't seem to rotate it... Edited August 23, 2016 by TorontoTim
