Phillhoare
Evening all I've recently reached the door rebuilding part of my 5 year rebuild of a basket case TR4 with quite a few bits missing!! Having just about figured out how the internals work I am missing the winder mechanism pivot bits. The pivot itself and the washers etc. Can anyone give me the dimensions of the pivot and perhaps a photo so that I can get a couple machined up? Also how it fits into the door and onto which bit of the mechanism, it looks as though it fits into the L shaped part as there is a hole in about the right place but all the parts catalogues show no hole in this bit so I'm a bit confused (how unusual?) Any help would be very much appreciated!Cheers Phill

I have pictures and dimensions for the L shaped glass stop if you need to make some, but Ray got me pair of these too, only parts I did not need was the door shell itself. Phillhoare
Hi Mark Thanks for your reply, sorry but I meant the L shaped part of the winding arms that the pivot bolt thingy goes through! Mine has a hole through it that lines up with the hole in the door shell where I assume the pivot bolt goes. Its just that in most of the parts diagrams there is no hole shown on that part of the arm. Unfortunately I'm not clever enough to post a picture! Anyway, will contact Ray and Helen to see if they can help. Thanks again Phill
MRG1965
Hi Phil I'll send you a picture and measurements from a spare I have in my shed. If you pm me with e-mail I'll send on Monday. you might want to see if you can find a convertable Herald mechanism, they are identical execpt the arm that links the lifter mechanism to the winder mechanism is slightly longer, some cut out an inch and weld back together to make the arm right length. Tried to attach pic but system is fighting me. Mark

Phillhoare
Hi Mark Its the thing that looks like a bolt in the L shaped arm that I'm after, I understand it isn't just a bolt but it has a thick shank with two flat sides and then a smaller diameter threaded part at the end. The hole it goes through in the inside of the door shell is double skinned and has a hole to match the above mentioned shank? Its helpful to know its the same as a herald, thanks. RogerH
Hi Phil. the Moss P/# is 650236 for the bolt and AJD7731 for the Thackery washer. The bolt is 'no longer stocked' but the washer is (hooray) If you can wait till Wednesday I'll take one out of the TR4 and measure it for you. Roger
Phillhoare
Thanks Roger, that would be great.
MRG1965
Or I could measure the one sitting on my bench to save you the hassle Roger. Mark
MRG1965
Hi I've measured the bolts I have, and I have two types. One looks like a standard bolt (set screw) and the correct one. I suspect at some point somebody could not get the correct bolt and used a standard bolt. The correct one has a 1/2 inch af nut on one end. Dimsnsions below to go with picture. The bolt shank and head have two flats to locate it in the door skin. total length 1.105" Head 0.093 thick 0.777" dia with 0.650 across two flats. shank 0.745" long 0.498" dia with 0.425" across flats Thread 0.261" long and 0.311" dia unf thread. Hope this helps and saves Roger fr8m dismantling his doors. Mark

stuart
FWIW Check the hole in the door skin where the bolt goes through as they will wear, I have had to have slightly oversize versions of this bolt made up in HT steel before now to get over this problem.
