Engine rebuild TR6

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am just interested to know if there is a way to check the condition of my engine when

it is out of the car. The car was partly rebuilt when i bought it and i have more or less started

again.

I have now got to the engine and was told it was running when it was last taxed (2010).

It turns over freely.

Any advice would be much appreciated,

Many thanks

Nick

Well first job is to check the Crankshaft End Float, which is this Engines 'weakest-link'

As it's out, I'd whip the Head off, and turn it over, then the Sump, and take a few bearing Caps off and look at the shells!

Hi Nick ~

Remove the pistons to see what condition they're in and de-glaze the cylinder bores.

I'd be inclined to fit new piston rings, big end and main bearing shells and obviously

the thrust bearings. I did all this recently on my 3A.

Tom. ;)
