tr6tuga
good evening I need help from the forum, where to start looking:-) The Tr 6 PI 1971 year model original, after a nice weekend and about 300 miles, running smoth average 27 mpg, out of the highway, the engine started to blurp, that faded away in high revs. Check the points, plugs, coil, injectors, no noticeable change. The plugs have all the same dry small black deposit exept n1:-). It starts as average but the umbalance is still there, I don't whant to keep on trying afraid to damage the engine. Any hints? Thank you
DaveN
First, what is the condition of no.1 plug? Plug condition may give a clue. Check the distributor cap for cracks and/or tracking. Check the condition of the rotor arm. Finally Check the valve clearances. Compression test.
Peter Cobbold
Have you tried changing #1 plug for a new one ?
snowric
When my engine misfires at low revs and this "disappears" at high revs this is just because the other five cylinders are fine and so you can't feel the misfire any more. I have had the following problems: 1. Blocked injector )easy to check pulse with fingers or spray) 2. Failing ht leads - I made up my own and have replaced them with some decent ones 3. Dizzy cap cracked causing mis fire 4. Timing off. Good luck. Snowy
