AlanT
It will take some time!
david c
Time I have, it's patience, skill and knowledge I lack. Got the job done this morning, not impossible but tricky and frustrating. masked off the top of the door to protect the paintwork and used masking tape to hold the clip on to the home made tool. Onward with the next job.
AlanT
I think Stuart was saying that you can trim the outer strip like this, so it goes up to the end of the door: https://www.flickr.com/photos/90670218@N04/14224875558/ This is how I just fastened the clips on the strip just a little bit, so the clip would get up behind the flange easily: https://www.flickr.com/photos/90670218@N04/14388355186/ This is my old strip and a repro: https://www.flickr.com/photos/90670218@N04/14408113321/ Notice how much fatter the lower rail is. This would give a lot of grief getting the clips to engage. So I made a small pocket for each clip: https://www.flickr.com/photos/90670218@N04/14410333244/ Of course now you have to get the cips in the right place on the frame. I used my trusty red-bottle of Tippex to mark this up. This is quick and easy to get off without solvent; https://www.flickr.com/photos/90670218@N04/14410333094/ Edited June 13, 2014 by AlanT
stuart
Alan from the first picture it looks as if you have the wrong clips on the rubber outer strip. The one you have illustrated is an inner strip one. The outers dont have the little extra channel on them. Stuart.

stuart
They are easy enough to fit with the "U" shaped tool. Stuart.
