Paul Harvey
Another rare opportunity to buy a Triumph Italia, this time at auction: http://www.oldtimergalerie.ch/e/auction/Juni2014.htm June 7th in Switzerland. Further details to follow on this car
Trigbush
Paul have you ordered the catalogue?
Paul Harvey
Gavin - not ordered catalogue yet as I am expecting details to be available online soon. This Italia is unknown to us and may be a recent restoration although I have a few pics of the same car from a Swiss show. It is in the first 100 made from the various details and so far does look to be remarkably correct. If the whole car checks out it should set a benchmark price for European Italias. Trigbush
And it's gorgeous to boot.

Paul Harvey
I like to be British, but I'd swap my body for an Italian one!
Paul Harvey
My Swiss connections have reminded me who the car belongs to & it is by far the most correct and comprehensive Italia restoration I have ever seen. Please PM if you are interested - I am told the buyer will consider offers prior to auction as the sales costs are high. I have photos of the complete restoration process which was only completed last year.
Alec Pringle
"I'd swap my body for an Italian one" Blimey, you mean the typical result of a lifetime of over indulgence in wine and pasta, belly overhanging belt by a precarious margin ? Or are we thinking Who on wheels, as in 'I'm gonna rust before I get old' ? Cheers Alec
Italia 227
Which # car is this Paul ? Do we know the pre-sale estimate ?
Paul Harvey
The Italia is #119 restored and sold to this owner in October 2012 and has faultless provenance. As the owner has decided to sell by auction I don't know the guide price although that information will be announced by the auction house soon I presume. The car was restored by an 'old school' Italian car specialist from a very original and complete car, but which needed to be fully restored. It has overdrive which was not factory fitted but likely to have been dealer fitted early in its life, if not on first sale. The restoration was meticulous, sensitive to all the original parts, and of the highest order. For example, the rear view mirror retains stickers from its previous life. If I wanted to buy an Italia to use as the maker intended, this would be my first choice. All PM's will be answered today.
stuart
That will be the one that was meticulously photographed through the restoration then Paul. I was impressed though they were lucky that the car wasnt in too bad a condition before hand. It is one of the best now thats for certain. Stuart.

Malocomotion
Very nice car, interesting to know how munch somebody is ready to pay for our dream-car...
Paul Harvey
I am told the guide price will be around 100,000 Euros. Discuss.
McMuttley
Jeezs, you could buy a scruffy looking dog for that price
Alec Pringle
Indeed, every dog has his (or her) price and I'm sure Paul would present you with Stanley for aforesaid sum . . . . As for the TR3 in transvestite alloy, it's not so much an Italian Stallion as an Anglo-Italian Pony, and at a hundred grand of europhonies or 80K in sterling, I could think of better things to do with the money. See Bonhams Spa auction results for example. Cheers Alec
Trigbush
Agreed. The Austin Healey 100M, for example, went for slightly just north of 100k.
Italia 227
Auction information updated: http://www.oldtimergalerie.ch/images/auction/triumphitalia.htm http://www.zwischengas.com/de/FT/fahrzeugberichte/Triumph-Italia-der-TR-3-im-italienisch-eleganten-Coupe-Kleid.html Estimate: EUR 116'500 - 125'000 Is it just me, or does his car sit oddly high at the front wheels ?? Paul Harvey
A comprehensive album of the original restoration can be seen here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/ugutsinda/6641720081/in/set-72157623918537133/ I think the front and rear track has been widened (commonly done) but there is nothing to suggest a change of ride height. The guide price is very bullish - good luck to the owner!
Italia 227
Received a copy of the big catalogue for this auction, with a full 2-page spread on the Italia. Unfortunately for me, all auf Deutsche, and my 2 years of high school German are a (very) distant memory. I’ll scan the pages and post tomorrow.
Paul Harvey
This car was also featured extensively in the May edition of 'Automobil Revue' magazine in Switzerland. It has had a fair bit of publicity overall.
Paul Harvey
The car may or may not have been sold. The Swiss have unusual rules at auctions which means the results announcement may be delayed, and we may never find the price paid if it has sold! I don't think HMRC would approve..... Italia 227
I emailed directly for results, so we'll see.
