oldtuckunder
After hijacking the Double Calipers thread with my quest to solve my braking from cold problem - I thought I'd start a new one for this. Having received some excellent advice re making the correct pad choice and bedding in correctly, it started me on a search for more info. Interestingly none of the manufacturers sites contain any real factual information - they mainly just list why their materials are best, with some guidence to bedding in. Anyway I came across a couple of articles that provide a lot more detail about pad materials and bedding in than I have found anywhere else. So I pass the links on. They are not short, and doubtless will provoke a few "thats rubbish" comments :-) But to me the Bedding In one was particularly thought provoking, as I had never thought that one might want to repeatedly go through a bedding in procedure. Now you may say that its a load of rubbish, but as these guys seem to earn their living supplying motor sport teams with products, hopefully they can't be fooling alll of the people all of the time. (however they are American) I havent watched the videos, only read the words http://www.essexparts.com/learning-center/cat/brake-pads/post/choose-brake-pads http://www.essexparts.com/learning-center/cat/brake-rotors/post/Bed-in http://www.essexparts.com/learning-center/swapping_pads Alan
Motorsport Mickey
Pretty decent write up, covers how to bed in pads and discs and outlines why you have to be realistic about what you expect your car ( and it's driver) to achieve, and why you don't always get better brakes from race bred components using them on the road, ...sensible.
