AlanG
Just about to refit the windscreen frame to my 4A and wondered if I should use a sealant under the rubber seal? Alan.
TRseks
Just did this job, one previous owner had used a silicon based sealant which was a pain to get off. As I have understood some use nothing... I used Indasa Windscreen Sealant myself, a non hardening sealer made for rubber windscreen gaskets, £7.25 on ebay, will also use this on the windscreen gasket after I have installed that. Still not sure if I should buy a new window or use the old one, does anyone know where the best place to buy a "good" windscreen or are they all the same quality? peejay4A
Indasa is the stuff to use. Remove excess with white spirit.
AlanT
I reckon its more important to seal the joint between the rubber and the screen frame. The frame is a lumpy shape and the rubber does not fill all the gaps. The rubber lip makes a pretty good seal onto the deck surface, so if you just sealed the ends, I think it would probably be OK. peejay4A
The workshop manual specifies a sealant between the seal and the deck.
