brian-nz
Hi After trying to fit a new cable I find that it appears that there is a piece of broken cable lodged in the shaft at the distributor end. Can anyone advise how to get this out. I have tried drilling it out but not much progress and a number of broken drills. Do I have to take the distributor off and get to from other end. Thanks Brian
Rodbr
Hi Brian, You might be lucky if you can get a very fine steel sewing needle (must be steel) bend a short right right angle at the point - insert down the corner of the square tube and twist. You may be able to just catch the broken end and ease it towards the end until you can grab it with pliers. Worth a try to avoid taking out the gear. Rgdsa Rod
Don H.
As Rod says, a tiny pick can be a big help. I was able to extract some bits of speedometer drive from the transmission of my car this way. With the right bite on the remnants they csme out amazingly easily. Good luck!
