TR24178
Our american brothers were very slow getting from 6 to 12 volt! I guess the guy who wrote the ad blurb thought 6 volt the norm for early fifties, when in fact in Britain we adopted 12 volts as the norm a lot earlier, strange when you think how cold North America can be in the winter, that the advantage of a starter motor that actually turned over at speed would have been a huge forward step!!! Perhaps Autolite and Delco-Remy had invested so much in 6 volt production they held back the change!! Most of the US vehicles that arrived in UK and Europe during WWII were 6 volt, during the cold winter of '44 they would leave a vehicle running to bumpstart the others!!! Ashley James
It's wonderful to see the sidescreen cars gaining real value. They deserve it. The American motor industry led the world through WW2 and beyond, in the thirties Rolls-Royce engineers were visiting Cadillac and Packard and being gobsmacked by how much more advanced they were and the astonishing quality they achieved, never mind the quantities of everything. 6 Volts it may have been but has anyone seen the dynamos? Equally they mass produced cars that were every bit as beautiful and often better made than the European coachbuilders. Sorry I got a bit carried away but.....
jdwtrxk
Nice looking car - whether it's great that he gets the money for it is definitely a fence with two sides - those who own and those who are looking!

Completely agree with Ash, the design concepts and production methods were way ahead but they still stuck with 6 volts, but the quality of the generators and control boxes made by Autolite and Delco-Remy was a lot better than the inventor of darkness!! Andre Citroen visited USA to purchase machine tools for his ground breaking and Company breaking Traction Avant!! Guy From this company: http://www.imparts.nl, our Moss branch. I wouldn't recommend them, though. I've never seen a TR for sale by them that ticked all the boxes...
