wayne taylor
Fitted an Accuspark E.I. today. Straight swap, no adjustment of the dizzy w.r.t. timing as I didn't have a timing light. Car pulls well and drives smoothly all the way thru the gears up to >70 plus. Tick over rock steady. Now: Should I check the timing using a strobe or leave well alone? Secondly: Can someone remind me how to tune twin 175 Strombergs please - sh'e running black in the exhaust and about 25 to the gallon? Good / bad? thanks. WT
peejay4A
Personally I would check the timing for peace of mind.
Fireman049
Hi Wayne ~ My 3A has been set up with a strobe light and Colortune but my plugs are jet black! I put most of this problem down to modern lead free petrol. Before the introduction of lead free my plugs were a light brown colour indicating correct mixture. I fear that weakening the mixture inorder to make the deposits 'lighter' will result in damage to the engine. I would welcome any suggestions on this. Tom.
