tr6tuga
Hi fellow Tr In the process of putting things together um my 1971 PI, a strange issue ! Hot starting the Tr, the starter strugles, voltage droops, almost can't crank the engine. After cooling, it starts at firts contact! Battery is ok ! Is this a sign of the original starter is in need.....
Tony Millward
It may be worthwhile to check the earth strap from your battery to the engine block...you do have one?. Cheers Tony
peejay4A
Thinking a bit sideways here but as you mention this is a hot start problem... Does the engine pink at all? I ask this because I've seen hot cranking problems caused by pre-ignition which almost stalls the starter motor.
tr6tuga
Hi Fellows The strap ? yes I'll check and how tight nuts are ! I do have some burbling when cold, but think is some nasty injector/petrol, new sparks made no diference at all same beaviour I ll have a look, keep you posted

Peter Cobbold
Peter that is where Ill start to look, 6 months in the workshop problbly bad contact. the stater was repaired some 3k ago so it should be ok :-)? Another fault is the Bendix not spinning along its scrollway, so the motor just 'whirrs' withour engaging the ring-gear. Graphite ( eg old pencil ) lubrication needed not grease after removing rust film.
