littlejim
despite my best efforts with the timing, carbalancer, and Colourtune Plug, the lowest idle I can get is about 1200 revs on the Counter (could be a couple of hundred optimistic.) Anyone getting better offers than that? (and how?)
peejay4A
Mine idles below 700 but is on new carbs. How are your throttle spindles? Any air leaks on the engine side of the butterflies, such as manifold gasket or brake servo connections?
badshead
A few thoughts...assuming SUs? Jets not centred so piston(s) not dropping fully? Worn throttle spindles? Induction air leak somewhere? Peejay beat me to it! ps. mine idles happily about 900 with so so carbs Edited April 14, 2012 by badshead
Ashley James
Usually if you can't slow the tick over down, it is because the timing is too far advanced. As long as the float heights are correct, the main jets are 35-38 thou below the jet bridge and the butterflies shut completely and together, which can be checked by sliding a 1.5 thou feeler gauge under them and pulling it out to see if they feel the same, they run perfectly.
