JJC
Would be very grateful for the inside knowledge on aligning the bonnet please. Just reached that stage and realise that each of the 12 bolts has adjustment. So there must be a technique. An idiots guide is what I need! Thanks in advance. Guest ntc
Remove the grill, start all the bolts do not nip up tight, and do not have the catch or prop fitted, use some gaffer tape fitted to the underside to open, when it is right nip up the bolts
Mark (tenpin)
Hi JJC Found the above coment good advice You need to fit the side rubber buffers and the stops in the corner slightly low I needed to use a side spacer on one side were it fits the inner wing which i made although you shouldn't need one once it is flat and closed and as you want it then tighten the mounts for the hinges on the inner wings and then tighten all other bolts gradualy so as not to move the position You would be best with two people Good luck Mark Edited September 11, 2011 by Mark (tenpin)
stuart
Also make sure that the two bolts on the side straps of the hinges to the bonnet are of the correct length otherwise you will have two dimples in the bonnet skin! When aligning the bonnet catch just nip the bolts so it will still just move and then with the bonnet cable pulled right out just gently bring the bonnet down until the pin just engages and self centres itself then tighten up.
