SS brake upgrade kit

Afternoon all.

I have S&S' standard vented disc upgrade kit, which is getting a little tired. I'm led to believe that the 2-pot calipers included in the kit are from the 2.8 Capri (namely M16 calipers), so would I be right to assume that the upgraded discs and pads (from EBC) I'm thinking of buying would be 2.8 Capri spec too ... or is that just too straightforward?

Of course, I know the fine chaps at S&S would gladly sort me out, but money is short so if I can find the EBC bits cheaper elsewhere - like EBC direct - I'm gonna, but want to make sure I'm ordering the right bits.

Any help gratefully received!

Carlos

You assume correctly.  Though, out of interest, when I spoke to EBC at a show they told me that if you have 'un-identified' pads (as I do on my 4-pots) they will be able to identify them from an outline faxed to them!!

My personal preference is the Mintex 1144 compound, they can be obtained at best price from Questmead. Again they will identify from a faxed outline. http://www.questmead.co.uk/ is the web address. I find the 1144 works from cold, takes track abuse and is not too hard on discs. It is all down to preference of course, but they work for me.

Cheers

Quite a few of the brake pad manufacturer's catalogues include drawings of the pads for the different models.

Obviously if you know of roughly which donor vehicles may be the original fitment for the pads it narrows the search down.

All of the calipers are well known, 2.8i Capri, Austin Princess for the four pots or Rover Vitesse/Jaguar XJ6 for the big 4 pots. The capri version uses 2.8i discs, what I'd like to know is which discs the four pot conversion uses. I got the numbers off mine whilst apart and couldn't find an equivalent at all. Especially important as my discs are slightly warped and I'm not paying TR7 specialist prices for discs.
