Richard V
On a more serious note, Hi, and welcome to the forum. Your car needs fuel and electricity to start and run, so a hidden petrol tap (down by the chassis frame) and a battery cut off device (hidden at the bottom of the footwell) is the best method. You will never stop someone entering the car, but you can prevent them leaving with it! Untill you have fitted the above items, I would recomend taking the rotor arm with you if you leave te car in a town center car park. (anyone who has tracked your car and is stealing to order, will be well equipped, and nothing can be done except keeping all bills and being well insured.) Cheers, Richard. ians
You want something that is convenient so the best bet is to go the electrical route. Putting an extra switch in the ignition circuit and mounting it under the dashboard is the easiest.
johnny250
whats best method to secure car when in car parks A battery isolating switch for the electrics helps, and a heavy motorcycle security chain and padlock through a rear wheel (you've got spokes I hope?)and over the suspension arm. john
TR 2100
a heavy motorcycle security chain and padlock through a rear wheel (you've got spokes I hope?) and over the suspension arm. Now that's a good idea - I hadn't thought of that. I'm not on wires but I do have 8-spokes! AlanR
ians
Now that's a good idea - I hadn't thought of that. I'm not on wires but I do have 8-spokes! AlanR Don't forget the safety cord! You need a piece of cord attached at one end to the chain and the other you wrap round the steering wheel before you close the door. This should stop you driving off having forgotten to remove the chain.

AlanR Jack up the back of the car and drag the car off. Lock is of no use. As others have said electrical disablement or removal of the rotor arm is a deterrent to the hot wirer but the stark reality is make sure your insurance is up to date. But I was going to put the lock around the front wheel ! Seriously, though, if a professional thief wants your car, he's almost certain to get it. But towing a car away with a lock around the front/rear wheels is going to attract more attention that a car dragged away on it's wheels, or with no visible security device.
