Alpha206
Hi All, Went to top up the gearbox oil this morning as it has a slight leak, and took the opportunity to replace the filler plug as it was somewhat mangled. Although the plug goes in OK there is a bit of resistance (not jamming) - possibly because it's new - but could someone advise me if the filler plug is a taper fit or should I expect it to ultimately screw in to the depth of the thread (as the old one did). Obviously I don't want to force it in any further if that's not the intention! Thanks,
peejay4A
It's a taper fit on mine.
PILKIE
If you tighten it up hand tight with an open ended spanner then a smidge more just to nip it up,that should be fine,as long as it doesnt leak and it isnt loose. The drain and filler plugs are 20-24lbft torque if you can fit a socket that will work.
RogerH
Compare the new with the old. Mine is tapered also but one of my grey cells thinks that straight thread may have been used!! Roger
