ChrisGrainge
Hi all, Busy day today - body off, chassis outside for a jetwash (was covered with the nicest mix of mud and oil I've seen in a long time - good news is most of it is OK), then engine and gearbox out and split. Would like to put the engine on the stand, but not really sure of how - could put some thin bots into the bell housing holes - but will that be strong enough? Other option would be the side with the spark plugs on it (less tuning moment on the stand) - but again looks tricky - any suggestions? Thanks Chris
TR NIALL
Hi Chris,Have you removed the flywheel from engine if not do so you will then be able to mount engine to the stand.
Nigel Lay
Hello Chris I used long bolts and homemade spacers, also had a length of wood as a 'security' measure to prop the free end of the engine while working on it. Best of luck Nigel (with TS952) Edited September 15, 2008 by Nigel Lay
ChrisGrainge
Hi Nigel, That's great - thanks - especially for the pictures - looks like the gearbox mounting bolts holes are solid enough then! Just need to get some long enough now... Chris
Tr4Tony
Chris - I do the same as above with bolts and spacers made from a bength of steel pipe bought from B&Q and cut to size. Works well and seems safe. Regards Tony
