Jersey Royal
hi there ive got a problem with starting my car it seems to be lack of petrol being pumped to start the car is this a comom fault or could it just be muck inthe tank or filter HI Gaz, I would say that its not a common fault but not unusual either. Think we need more info, ie does the car actually start , when it does how does it run. If you havent got a manual for the car get one the register sell a good selection from the on line shop. However there are usualy two cables from the choke one goes to the Metering Unit and the other the throttle. In a lot of cases the throttle part of the cable is not connected, some consider it unnecessary. The other cable should be attached to MU, and should operate the excess fuel lever, which should have a clearance of 0.006 to 0.008 in. Pull the choke out a see if it moves the lever, This could be your problem, if the car runs well in other respects. Keep us informed Cheers Guy Edited February 17, 2008 by Jersey Royal
Peter Douglas Winn
Ever thought about the injectors leaking fuel when standing, so that next time they have to be primed before the car starts.
rvwp
Hi there, have you checked out the TR6 Forum, 'Help-newly rebuilt PI system won't start'. Your topic is discussed in great detail. One problem is that during engine cranking the Bosch Pump may not be getting enough volts/amps and its effective pressure output will fall to unacceptable levels. Are you still using the original loom feed to the bosch Pump? You may need to up the wire size and run through a relay. Again check out the TR6 topic. Rich
