Does anyone out there know a supplier who can provide inner tubes for 15 inch x 5.5 J wire wheels with 165 section tyres on.

I seem to remember reading something about a supplier in the TRaction but I can't remember which issue.

If you have used inner tubes with these tyres sucessfully and you need new ones, then please proceed. However, if you haven't used inner tubes in these tyres before, then the first thing to ask the specialists is whether these tyres are designed to run with tubes. I have heard of many TR owners who put inner tubes into their tyres without asking and they have had all four tyres blow out within 300 or 400 miles. There is a difference and it seems that an inner tube in a tyre that is not designed to run with an inner tube results in the tube wearing by friction against the rough inner surfaces of the tyre.

Hi Ian,

I have just purchased 5 inner tubes for my TR2 from "Vintage Tyres" (sales@vintagetyres.com) who are at The National Motor Musium, Beaulieu.

These are Michelin and cost a total of £44.06 including a special offer of free delivery.

They are 15" and cover a range widths from 135 up to at least 165.

I am fitting them to 4.5 wire wheels from SC Parts Group at Crawley who are the cheapest I found.

The tyres are Vredestein Sprint Clasic 165 R15 86H from mytyres.co.uk@delti.com and cost £66 each including vat and delivery.

The information that I have gathered from various sources is that inner tubes other than Michelin and Dunlop are cheaper quality and tend to split at the seams and it is easy to blame this on the tyres. As far as I can see, most well known tyre branded manufactures say that their tubeless tyres are suitable for fitting tubes.

Although I have fitted these tyres and tubes and they look great,I have no Idea regarding their performance or durability.I will just have to see.

Hope this helps. Regards Cloin.
