    Hi David,

     almost certainly Royal Blue.

I believe it was created in 1964 and named  on behalf of Prince Charles when he bought a TR4 in 1964.

I could be wrong but I will try anything for a knighthood.

    He is the King now……

I'll work on the pics etc.

Haven't worn the new snowboard boots yet, Sue (other than in the house).  We were out on Saturday and my old boots started falling apart so yesterday I got all the new kit and will be snowboarding on Saturday with them. I expect a few blisters, but hopefully it will be survivable!!

    It will be cold too!!

    Tim

Good luck and enjoy. It’s very cold here today but nowhere near as cold as where you are.

    Hi Hamish,

Yes I have a bunch - I'll dig them out and post some.

My profile pic here, FYI, is taken on the Top of the World highway between Yukon and Alaska on the Alcan 5000 rally back in 2014. That's Jan leaning against the TR looking out at the clouds in the valley below. :)

Could you repost Jans Facebook Blog, at the time, here…?

how’s your ankles holding up with the new boots? I remember skiing with new boots ( hjghered ones) and ended up with V shaped scars on the back of my ankles for the next couple of years. Hope you haven't got blisters.

Even if they have to pay Sue what about all the other hidden costs in terms of policing, clean up etc which are passed on no doubt to council tax payers?

I don’t think it can be added into our Council Tax as it must be included in the Mayors Precept which is mainly for The Met Police and a Park over the other side of London that we have to pay for thanks to Ken Livingstone , those of us on the west of London are hardly ever likely to go there  although I did go there once. Traffic on M25 is prohibitive of getting there or even wanting to get there.
( I worked in Council Tax, Rates, Community Charge for the last 20 years of my working life)

We went to see the Millenium Fireworks and Concorde Flypast we we’re on Westminster Bridge, we didn’t see a thing because it was sooooo foggy and then we were Kettled by the Police on horses, talk about frightening, never again……………..

But Khan and his half baked Labour cronnies can't house the homeless or get a hold on record knife crime!

Hardly a priority but never mind I'm sure ULEZ fees will pay for an even bigger event next year.

    What a waste?

    Andy

I am under the impression that you have to pay for your ticket to see the London fireworks, you cannot just turn up to watch you must have a ticket. I could be wrong about having to pay but don’t think so.

    Hi All

I can understand why some you you might feel frustrated with offering additional (or repeated) information to what you have provided earlier. But I do feel that I have tried most of what was advised (apart from condenser/points and testing for spark at point of failure). The reason for not trying these was simply my ignorance on how to go about this, even accepting the guidance being offered. I will now buy a spark tester as advised by Mick.

Oh and I live Hayes in south London (not the much larger Hayes in north west London).

    Have a nice weekend all

    Best Wishes

    Ernest

@ErnestYou might want to visit with the London TR group who I noticed are not that far (roughly speaking) to you. I've found our local group mega helpful and fun.

    London group: https://www.tr-register.co.uk/group/london

Marked on the attached map are the two locations of the two places called Hayes, the two red dots are the approx locations of meeting places *pubs) of The London T R Group. As you can see they are on opposite sides of our Capital City which is like trying to swim the channel it’s probably quicker to get to Dubai.

  7. In 1975-7 I worked for British Airways Agent Refunds refunding unused segments of airline tickets back to Travel Agents, if there was a refund due. Back then it was well know that travellers from Cyprus would, when in the U.K., buy Open return tickets to Cyprus but use the tickets in reverse ie fly back to Cyprus on the ticket they had just purchased and only use the second leg Cyprus- UK the next time they wanted to come to the U.K., never again needing to  purchased any flight tickets in Cyprus, this was because the cost to buy in the U.K. was much cheaper.

Thank you for your insight. I wonder if you can remember who did the restoration work and are they still in business? I’m wanting the best of both worlds really, comfort but also originality is important.

Hello David. You request has reminded me that we also had a pair of seats reupholstered in about 2012 in red leather for our TR4. They were £500:00 per seat back then, not including the leather covers which we purchased separately @ + £400:00 per pair.

The company was Motobuild in Egham, Surrey and my husband says they are still in business. They were always very busy but worth the wait.

  9. 25 years ago we had our original TR4A seats reupholstered and recovered in leather. They are as original, very comfortable and 25 years later still very comfortable. During these 25 years we have averaged 15000 miles a year or thereabouts and have often driven nonstop from Oban, Scotland to West London , about 500+ miles.

We once installed a TR6 passenger seat with the facility to lean back and with a headrest, this was for the Round Britain Reliability RUN to enable the co driver to lean back and sleep. This turned out to be a complete wast of time as it was the most uncomfortable seat ever. My son, the codriver didn’t like it at all.

Although I didn’t take part in the RBRR I had to sit in this TR6 passenger seat whilst it was in our TR4A before and after the RBRR, it was very uncomfortable especially around the back of my legs.

I would strongly advise not to consider TR6 seats and if necessary redo your TR4A seats.

Show me a car that I could not find faults on I will eat my hat including some of the posters on here I personally think this is not a good idea to ask a forum for opinions but it seems to be a good idea for a mod to encourage it. Just my personal opinion.

    I agreee 100%
