Colour of my plugs

Recommended Posts

Pink,

Is it a PI? if so how did you stop the car before removing the plugs? My understanding is that the 6 always runs rich at tickover, so to get a reasonable reading you have to drive the car until hot, then drive at 2000’ish revs for a couple of minutes then stop and kill the engine. Then remove the plugs to check the colour. (once cool :) )

If it's carburettors forget the above!

Hi Pink.

As someone with very little experience of the TR6 but a lot with modern motorcycles and Jet Skis, I'd be very happy if the plugs from my car looked as good as that! Unfortunately, not as yet.

As a matter of interest, does you engine have an external oil feed to the rockers? I've just removed mine and I suspect this will help improve things.

my apologies your right I forgot to answer the question, no 1 is on the right 6 on the left

no 6 plug was 2 threads lose which I presume is the reason why it is blacker at the bottom than the others
