I am about to change my oil filter and the Moss catalogue mentions that it is important to fit the correct "O" ring however my filter head is not stamped "Purolator" or indeed "Tecalemit" all I can find is "DIALOY 1". Any suggestions gratefully received.

Moss catalogue, bottom page 21 shows the different heads.

Alan.

I know but mine doesn't conform to their details

The Tecalemit and full flow and by pass Puraltor oil filter heads all had the makers name cast on the head as far as I am aware, so it seems yours may be an aftermarket head, especially if it doesn't match the drawings in the Moss catalogue. The outer metal canister holding the paper filter does not appear to have any markings at all, so it won't be possible to ascertain if an original canister has been mated up to your head. The cannister should be big enough to take a filter 14 cm long and 7.5 cm diameter. If that seems a likely fit then it may well be necessary to take off the paper filter cannister extract the "O"ring and ask one of the helpful TR specialists to check if one of the ones supplied with the replacement are the same size. As you will know there are usually 2 or 3 "O"rings supplied with the new filter.

Sorry, not much help I know.

I have exactly the same head on a TR4 engine here. Takes standard filters as fitted to TR2/3/3A/4/4A. GFE104.

And one of the two included o-rings, too, of course?

Thanks, but which ring should I fit, Purolator or Tecalemit?

Chris

First place to start is comparing the two in the filter kit to the one just taken off the car! You know the one there now fits.
