peejay4A
Invaluable as I found when during a 2000+ mile trip around Belgium, Germany and France the "spring dowel" as it's called in the ST parts book or roll pin as we know it (part number DS1312) fixing the throttle operating lever to the pedal shaft sheared. Thankfully it did it in the garage of my friend's neighbour. Phew! If that had happened on an Autobahn it would have been interesting. I fixed it with a masonry nail which is going to be a permanent fix now I've seen what the torque at that point can do to a roll pin. I noticed that the holes in the pedal shaft and the operating lever didn't line up very well so I imagine that when the pin was driven in it deformed and weakened. What is peculiar is that the LHS arrangement in the parts book shows a solid Mills pin. Why?
stuart
In the Moss book it shows the same pin for both L&R hand drive DS 1312. Stuart.
peejay4A
They're different in the ST parts book.
AlanT
The pins are a poor solution for this part. It waggles back and foward all the time. I cut a 1/8 keyway in mine.
peejay4A
Surely it's under spring tension all the time you're off idle
AlanT
When I first got mine the pin was half broken. It was jammed and very hard material. Tricky to get out. The shaft itself is pretty soft. This made it even harder to drill out the pin.
