A lot of activity since our last article.

Drive it Day was excellent, despite the rain, thanks to Mike Heelis and the Windsor Forest Group, for putting on a great show at Amberley Museum. Some of us managed to drive home with the top down, and some of us became very wet. The joy of TR’s.

May came along and a group of 5 TR’s headed to Dorset, led by Roger & Caroline. Took in the sites of Corfe Castle, Abbotsbury etc. As is usual, one car had a problem, but thanks to the TR Register App, a garage was found near Bournemouth and Roger’s broken heater valve and replaced in no time. Seems a shame that the App doesn’t have more garages in it, such a vital tool.

Later that month, TVG held its first breakfast meeting at ‘Sir Roger Tichborne’ pub, near to Billingshurst. A total of 23 cars attended along with cars from London, Windsor Forest, and Goodwood groups. A real ‘cross group’ meeting, and thanks to the weather and breakfast everyone enjoyed it. Hoping this becomes a regular event for TVG. Thanks to Alan Kent for organising the event.

Moving into June, Roger & Caroline held their annual garden party which brought in a number of TR’s and thanks to the sunny afternoon, became a great day.

Sadly, in June, many of us attended the funeral of our much beloved member, Bryan Hirchfield. Paul, his son, felt it would be great if TVG could follow the hearse in a procession to the crematorium. Paul, and his mother Jill, followed the hearse in his dads Green TR4A with 10 TR’s following on behind. Driving through Croydon, at the best of times is not easy, but it must be said other drivers were very considerate and allowed us to stay together. The service was, very moving, and we finished the day, in Bryan & Jill’s garden. Rest in Peace Bryan.

Finally, its time, for Janet & I, to say goodbye to Thames Valley as we will be in Suffolk when this article comes out. It’s been a great 24 years and we have made many friends, who, definitely won’t be forgotten. We will not cut ourselves off, as Suffolk is not the end of the world, and it will be great to be cooking breakfast at Bath & West showground. TVG is a very strong group who will continue to grow, thanks to the members, so we wish you well for the future.

Our regular meetings are at the Stepping Stones pub in Westhumble, Dorking (RH5 6BS) on the third Wednesday of each month from 20:00 and our Sunday lunchtime meetings on the last Sunday of the month at the Surrey Oaks (RH5 5DZ), starting at 12:00.
