What a joy it is to start talking about getting the group together and actually attending some shows. Some of us have booked into the Surrey Oaks for Drive it Day, so there should be a lot of waving across the garden and maybe some photos for the next article! My diary is slightly worrying as it’s becoming full of visits to pubs, very strange having to book ahead, especially as it makes you realise how much your social life can revolve around locations that sell alcohol.

We are booking up for a new event in our area, the Horsley Big Day out, held at the prestigious Horsley Towers Estate, which is part of the De Vere’s group, so little pinkies at the ready.

Good to hear that Don Streatfield is starting to sort out his TR6 and has booked to join us at Horsley Towers along with our regulars.

Alas our regular Capel Car show has been cancelled this year, however Cranleigh is a little on the slow side at opening up ticket sales and Cobham yet to publish an event for 2021! But we are ever hopeful.

Currently in discussion with our regular pub re holding our long overdue 50th celebration. Hopefully at the end of August, details to follow soon.

The pictures published show Alan Kent's 40-year 1955 TR2 restoration so far. He acquired OAA 953 in 1974 for £25, ran it for a couple of years and then stripped it in 1979 for a full rebuild leaving only the shell sitting on the chassis. Then the new house and flying took over! 40 years later in 2019 the shell came off the chassis, and two years further on it now looks amazing, and since then it has now been reunited with its brilliant new, original colour, Signal Red shell.

Congratulations to Gareth for getting through Covid and desperately taking his TR6 out for a spin to blow the cobwebs out. As I’m sure many members have been.

Stop Press: - John Summerskill is looking to buy a Mk2 Jag and has joined the Jag owners club. Mind you, he’s still keeping his TR and will remain a TVG member.

For the first time, in what seems for ever, I can republish our meeting dates with the hope that we can start normal operations as of May.

Our regular meetings are at the Stepping Stones pub in Westhumble, Dorking (RH5 6BS) on the third Wednesday of each month from 20:00 and our Sunday lunchtime meetings on the last Sunday of the month at the Surrey Oaks (RH5 5DZ), starting at 12:00.
