Grahamgl
Gentlemen, I am in the process of dismantling the front suspension of my 1961 TR4 and I need advice. The thrust washers, Nos.91 in the attached image are “fixed” to the bottom swinging arms, No.88 in the image. My question is how to remove them. Do I need to fabricate a puller to withdraw the bush, No.89 in the image. Your guidance would be appreciated. Graham

BlueTR3A-5EKT
Firstly, you may not have item 94 in the picture, fitted to your car. This came in later in TR4. So, you have removed the nuts on both ends of the trunion? Plus you have removed the stepped face locking washers (95) that are splined onto the trunion pin and are under the nuts? You do this with the use of a mallet, pushing the trunion away from the wishbone to ease the splined lock washer off the spline of the trunion pin. Can you see the star indents in the face of the thrust washer that is stuck to the arm? The washer should fall off as the hole through it is a lot bigger than the trunion pin and locates on the small step spigot of the splined lock washer. The arm has a flat area on its outer diameter the same size as the flat area of the trunion. This is for the seal to sit on, the thrust washer abuts it. There is a star faced thrust washer either side of each wishbone arm. Edited February 25 by BlueTR3A-5EKT
