Feeler gauge checking tappets on tr5

Recommended Posts

Hi all hope alls well ,just asking before I do something silly what would be the correct number on this gauge to check the tappets ,number 10 fits nicely  on 1&3 but as I’ve never done this before I thought best to ask as the book says 0*25 .

The last two are 15&25 as it doesn’t show on the picture.

regards

Nick

the cold clearance is 0.010" inlet and exhaust.
You can use the thirteen rule but Triumph issue this table:-

Valves 10 & 12 fully open adjust 1 & 3
2 & 5 " " " 8 & 11
7 & 9 " " " 4 & 6
1 & 3 " " " 10 & 12
8 & 11 " " " 2 & 5
4 & 6 " " " 7 & 9

That means use the feeler with 10 written on it as your feelers are imperial sized (inches)
