The problems have got worse -

...there's a reply in my new thread, above, that it might be the head gasket, yikes, ...I need to find a garage to look into it.

Update (and as added to the above thread) putting the old Lucas coil back in seems to have helped enormously.

I had poor running in my PI TR6 today. Felt like only 5 cylinders.  When I got home I removed my NGK BP5ES5 plugs one at a time and found 2 that were very sooty.

I cleaned the plugs with a brush and a blow lamp and then changed the corresponding injectors. All is well now. Two over fuelling injectors fouling good plugs.

Just thought this might be worth a try for you.
