I would be inclined to remove the starter to examine it to see if it has any damage and look into bell housing at the flywheel to see what else it might have done. You may have problems removing starter past the exhaust but you should be able to pull it out far enough to look at it. Remove the half-moon plate mentioned in other posts to se if there are any bits of metal in the bottom of the clutch housing and make sure you put it back the correct way round or you will have another noise problem. Lo100469 Posted October 19, 2023 Report Share Posted October 19, 2023 To feed Keith's point, when my starter failed we had to remove the exhaust to take it out. this was a big job. That is the primary reason why i fitted a high torque starter that is a lot shorter and can be removed easily. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
