TR3 Handbrake idler

Recommended Posts

TR3 1956 Handbrake idler very loose and looks as though its been packed out between metal and flet washer. Arm removed from axle  and cleaned up.  Screwing pivot arm back into axle bottoms out with about 3/8th inch of thread showing.

Does the thread go all the way through

The steel and felt washers are original.  Screw in until the felt is compressed but the lever and arm are still able to articulate

You must pump full of grease after assembly at the two grease points.

As Peter intimates, it is designed to be able to wobble about in order to apply equal force to left and right rear brakes.

It may seem rather odd, but it works well!
