John Mellor
Showing my ignorance here! Whilst adding grease to TR4 rack and rear wheel bearings the thought occurred to me; ball joints etc excess or old grease extrudes out. I suppose too much in rear wheel bearings will cause mischief but years of sensible amounts where does it go? Same with steering rack Yes I know what a daft question
BlueTR3A-5EKT
Rear hub. The drive flange has a bleed hole in the front face. Theory is excessive grease will come out through it onto the outer face of the drum. There is a cut out in the drum that aligns with the hole. Steering rack. The bellows fill up
John Mellor
Yes get that but doesn't grease become dried and inflexible with age
BlueTR3A-5EKT
Yes agreed. I have had NOS wiper motors that the grease has congealed in, causing the motors to run slowly if at all. Strip it all down, clean out the congealed and hardened grease and re lubricate That will probably see it all right for the next 30 years.
