Charlie D
Hello All, Have you ever been to a car park and you have the option to point your smarphone at a QR code on the side of the ticket machine that takes you to a website where you enter your card details and pay for the ticket that way? Apparently the thieves simply stick their own QR code over the proper one, so you are sent to a phishing site disguised to look like the real thing. Amazingly simple. It made me realize that this sort of trick could be used anywhere that you are asked to point at a QR code. The code it’s self gives nothing away to the human eye, so it is easy to be caught out. Modern technology introduced without thinking through the possibilities of what could go wrong. Charlie.
stuart
Most car parks these days have a site number that you use to pay through sites like "Just park" or "Pay by phone" etc, I use them fairly regularly as most isolated beach car parks wont take money or a card these days.
