DJB350Z
Hello, I have a GT6 with a 2.5 PI engine from a 2500. At some point in time the PO swapped the head and I'm struggling to find out what car it came from, since the valve springs I just bought for the aforementioned engine are too small. The stamp number is 516816, which I now think may make it a TR5. It has inner and outer valve springs. Before I order TR5 valve springs and try them, can somebody do me a massive favour and give me the measurements? My old inner springs are: 43mm tall by 20mm OD (Measured with a steel rule and not verniers so could be slightly +/-). If TR5s match that I'll give them a try. Thanks Edited August 18, 2022 by DJB350Z
BlueTR3A-5EKT
This is from some ancient notes I have for the Triumph Tune replacement set for TR5/6 TT1207 Inner 46.5 free length 18.95 O/d Outer 42.5 free length 28.25 o/d It could be all rubbish...... tr graham
The above is correct , and a 516816 is indeed a Tr5 be careful there are different length pushrods in a 6 cyclinder depending on block and head . Mini Cooper race springs work well 1 less winding graham
DJB350Z
Thanks. I can see the TT1207 springs listed in a Moss catalogue. Since the measurements of my old springs are different can I safely assume that any of the following part numbers would be suitable?
Waldi
I would order the springs from Chris Witor, I got mine from him, including new exhaust valves; do not order “uprated” springs, unless you are a racer boy, as these will increase the risk of wearing out the followers and cam.
