ID a TR6 engine in a TVR?

Recommended Posts

Over on The Triumph Experience, one of the cousins would like to know about the Triumph engine in his TVR.

  Over to you, Joe:

Greetings... I'm in the process of having my 72 TVR Vixen engine rebuilt.. (TVR sourced Triumph TR6 engines for this model)..
I'm hoping someone can help me out on understanding the suffix of this engine number - CC75020UES... I believe this number denotes its a 1972 USA engine.. what does the S suffix denote? Service rebuilt?
Any help would very much be appreciated...
Cheers

John,

I believe that the "S" indicates a brand new condition engine, supplied in the event of a warranty claim. We have quite a lot of "HES", "UES" and "ESS" engines in our records.
