Motorsport Mickey
Stuarts right, 120 lb ft is what I always rebuild my engines at, (my Stag has it set at that as well). I did have a small collection of pulleys off engines I rebuilt over the years where the woodruff key had "machined" a nice 6mm sideways slot into the keyway of the pulley when it's battered back and forth by engine torque because it hadn't been torqued up enough. It's taken years but we eventually found a reference in a TR Workshop manual in Australia only about a month ago showing the torque as being 140 lb ft. The yield of a Grade 3 5/8th UNF bolt (the starter dog bolt) is shown at 150 lb ft so given we are talking 50 year old plus material plus I've never had any come loose, I'm happy using 120ft and having a little more in reserve.
