IRS rear springs

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

I have a pair of rear springs for the IRS cars. Originally bought for my 4A.

They are painted royal blue with white & pale blue identofication.

They are 8.75" long in unfitted position.  They are possibly TT4212   390lbs  but not 100% sure.

Only used for a few hundred miles back in the late 90's. Some visible rust on the lower two coils.

Free for collection From Hayes Middx  UB3 area.

Roger

Revington suggest they may be front springs but they are way too long.  Moss suggest it is a rear spring but do not give colour codes.

I have some blue rear springs, purchased from Moss in the 1990. They were touted as being progressive, meaning that they get stiffer with increased compression. I believe they are 10.1875", 390 lbs, and the Moss catalog # was 670-148 and may have been manufactured by  TriumphTune. They are not currently listed. I still have them on my 6 and am satisfied.

Roger, are you getting your front & rear muddled?

Front springs that I have tried vary from 9.7 inch free length to 8.8 inch.

Rears vary from 11.8 inch to 10.5 inch.

So yours are in the Front range as RTR suggest.

I have some TT4102 purple & yellow stripe which are FRONT 8.8 inch 420lb.

Either that or in all my notes I've got front/rear dyslexia.
