I cured that issue by elongating the three stud holes. I'm leaning towards a sticky/faulty cam follower as Ian suggested. My camshaft & followers came from different suppliers, but that's a whole other story. The engine has only covered 2000 miles since rebuild, I'll run it over the summer with fingers crossed nothing goes awry, then remove cyl head later in the year. Richard. Attached is a pic taken of my rocker cover when I first discovered that particular problem, sadly, as said I still have a slight audible ticking that's driving me bonkers!
