Just out of interest,

I have some "spare" drive shafts, they are different to the shafts fitted on my 4A, the "spares" have a screw threaded cap joint thing between the two parts, the ones on the car don't.

I assume the threaded cap version is probably rather older?

Oh okay, I thought there may be some technical advantage to one or the other, I assumed that it was replaced without the screw cap to cut costs at the factory.
