len1
I am about to reassemble my engine and keep looking at my inlet manifold and am unsure weather to get them reconditioned or not. They seem to work well on the bench with nothing untoward. Is there something i should be looking for ?,,,,or should i send them off to be done by a professional ? astontr6
Hi Bruce. Sorry PI Len Check for up and down play in the butterfly spindles and hold each manifold up to the sky and looking from the manifold side as if looking through a pair of binoculars see how much day-light there is around the butterflies the maximum air gap s/b not more than .002", so I was told long ago? Nigel Triumph
New spindles are available from a few suppliers, e.g. Malcolm at Prestige. I replaced the spindles on my CP-series fuel injection throttle bodies a few years ago and fitted the ball jointed throttle linkages from Moss at the same time. This gave big improvements in ease of balancing the throttles and low speed running. Not as good as reconditioned throttle bodies I'm sure but a lot cheaper.
