JonathanE
Could someone please tell me the location of UNC/UNF studs and UNC hex head set screws that go through the top of the gearbox mounting flange into the engine block. When I dismantled mine, I found a mixture of set screws and bolts of different lengths some 5/16 UNC, and some 5/16 Whitworth (but no studs). The parts book etc. show there should be three 5/16 UNC/UNF studs and six UNC bolts, but I cannot immediately see which to put where. Thank you Jonathan
RobH
Some previous discussion: http://www.tr-register.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/49476-gearbox-to-engine-dowels/ This shows where the dowels go. Its TR6 but I think the positions are the same. http://tr6.danielsonfamily.org/LocatingDowels.htm
John Morrison
The three studs go into the engine at 12 O'Clock and then immediately either side. Rest of the UNC bolts go eithr side from them, except dowels at 2 O'Clock and 8 O'Clock, larger, longer 3/8 shouldered bolts and nuts at the starter, and then 4 UNF nuts and bolts across the bottom to retain the tin plate. This is from memory, but sure someone will confirm. studs I'm certain of though! John,
