The Season of Gearbox Removal

Recommended Posts

I have come to a similar solution, using double O rings in place of just one. It stops the pumping action and so far has sealed on two gearboxes that I have treated this way.

However, for my TR250 I am going to try the Q seals but will order the washers too.

Cheers

Graeme

Hi all,

I fitted some Quad seals last week (thanks again Roger) .I tried several different ways of packing out the recess including fibre rings and the BS112 spiral PTFE back up washers. I eventually settled on slicing the original 'O' rings almost in half by sliding them up a silicon tube nozzle and cutting with a sharp knife to the thickness I needed . Alls well at present though I've only done 30 or so miles since rebuilding the cover, but no leaks yet.

cheers

Mike
