AlanT
If you have a DR3A type wiper-motor and it does not "self-park" properly then maybe its suffered the same fate as this one: There should be a layer of fibre insulation material between the brass-disc and the cap but on this one it's disintegrated. There is a "jig-hole" in these parts that allows water to get between the layers. There is always some damage present because of this. I always strip these down but usually I can re-use the components, not on this one: Here I have replaced the disintegrated layer with a disc cut from Lexan sheet. This is transparent actually but shows black because I seal the layers with polyurethane sealant. Notice the pesky third hole that is partly responsible for this problem. Here I have rivetted the layers back together. You could fasten them with small screws, but the rivets do it better: Edited March 5, 2016 by AlanT
AlanT
Incidentally, I keep these discs cut ready because they are replacements for the "crystal" on dial indicators. Happens to be the exact size. Just ask if you need one.
RogerH
Hi Alan, nice job When I did mine back in the 90's I etched it out of PCB single sided copper board. It worked very well. Roger
AlanT
The copper will be thinner than the brass disc I think. And softer. Still you probably made several. How did you fasten the layers?
