RogerH
Hi John, the little captive sockets are pushed into the bonnet (or boot) and the letters pushed into them. Roger

Mark1965TR4aBRG
Every day is a school day! I thought you slid the plastic jobbies onto the pins once the pins were through the holes. This may explain why my first bonnet globe and ring wet flying (twice)... Thanks Roger.

peejay4A
If you've had a paint job the chances are that the plastic sockets won't fit the holes without taking a drill to the holes. I didn't like the idea of that so mine are fitted with the sockets on the underside pressed onto the badge pins and then secured in place with a blob of transparent RTV. Still in place after 3 years. RogerH
Hi Pete, that is the down side to the sockets - the holes need to be clear. And this could cause a rust spot. I have used both methods - sockets and RTV - both work. Roger
