Paul Kelsey
Can anyone advise me on the stud fitting for the hood on the surrey top. One stud has come off and needs a new one before I order a new hood. It appears to have been rivetted but I am a bit worried about drilling this out without knowing how it fitted originally. Any ideas about replacing it would be welcome.
stuart
Presumably you mean the two studs on the top each side of the rear frame, They are just riveted on with 1/8" rivet. You will need a fairly long one to replace it with as the frame is fairly thick at that point. use 1/8" drill to remove old rivet dont let the drill wander. Stuart. AlanT
You can use a self-tapping screw. But it must be one with a very flat head. Otherwise the press-stud won't mate fully.

I wouldnt as they will pull out of the Ally after a while.Thats why the factory riveted them on. Stuart.
Paul Kelsey
Hi Stuart and Alan Thanks for your replies. I should hopefully be able to drill the broken rivet out without the bit wandering if I pilot it with a centre drill. the position is not absolutely critical as I getting a new hood. Thanks again, Paul
